Personal spaces

①You're talking to a co-worker. How close do you stand?
A: About 1 m. Co-workers are not friends, so I do not stand close.

②You're talking to a friend. Do you touch each other?
A; Yes, I do. It is no reason.

③Look at the diagram of a waiting room. Where do you sit where you enter?
A; I will sit B. There is nobody sit beside me.

4 You're in a crowded elevator. Where do you look?
A; I look up a board. I do not know why.

5 You're standing in line . How close do you stand to the person in front?
A; I am stand 1 m . However depends of situation.

6 You get on the bus . There is an empty row of seats at the back , and an empty seat closely, where do you sit?
A; I sit on the middle, Because I can move easily.

7 You're in a library and there 's an empty seat beside you . Do you want to stop someone sitting there?
A;Yes, I do. I am very shy.

8 You're going to the beach . Do you like to see lots of people or very few?
A;I like both. I do not care.

9 When you're talking to someone , do you look them in the eye?
A;Yes, I do. It is manner.

10 You're on a train . Do you talk to the other passenger?
A; No I do not. I never talked other passanger.

I agree with your opinion. Japanese is very shy, so Japanese personal space is very broad.

Japanese don't like too close people. But, I think it depens on the situation too.

I want to stop someone sitting beside me,too, and I don't talk to passanger on the bus either. I'm shy too.

because some people may be shy!
